This past week I have been working on connecting with my Root Chakra. With that there is a level of reflection necessary to understand from where it is that I come from. As I join my family this morning in front of the tv to watch the parade I take it all in a little differently. I am thinking about them next to me on the couch and we as a unit, but also them – when they were young and in front of the tv with their siblings and parents this holiday, and what their mornings may have felt like. What was cast aside to make the day special? What was done differently to make the day special? For whom was this truly a special day, and why?
Some of the Root queries I reflected on this week invited me to investigate the beliefs I have aquired, and to recognize and appreciate every person in my family in the same way. My Root is calling me to Action, challenging me to nurture my self. To take inventory of my basic needs and balancing that with what I have. It’s calling me to be present and in awareness in every moment.
I also happened to be reading a book right now called The HIdden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben (I highly recommend it!). On page 82 Peter propositions Do trees have brains? It is widely accepted that the root network of trees is in charge of all chemical activity, including chemical messages and neurological activities. Trees can learn, they plan ahead, they strategize against toxicity, and they require fair living environments. Trees live as family units. Trees also don’t thrive when they are isoloated.
My Root Chakra governs my basic survival needs, and because it carries the quality of my ancestors, my culture and my connection to mother earth, it requires a present day foundation of stability. It is my job to hold this awareness, to reunite my energy so that I may draw upon the earths wisdom. I am to RECONNECT, RECLAIM, and INTEGRATE. So I explore creatively a few generations back – the ones before tv and the broadcast parades, before big cities and telecommunication, before cars and highways. I acknowledge my present day mood and my beliefs and I honor the struggles of those who came before me to better understand ME. For this I am grateful.
When we find ourselves shaking as a result of being in a highly emotional state – it’s a good thing. Shaking is a natural primal instinct that our body wants to do to calm us down. Examples of charged energies include those moments when you are 1) Excited! 2) angry 3) afraid 4) nervous.
Unfortunately as we’ve grown up and grown older, we’ve learned to shut this mechansim down. “It’s a sign of weakness to show your emotions” we’re told. “Don’t do that, you look like something’s wrong with you.” “Control yourself.” “Pull yourself together” or face judgement.
NO! There’s nothing wrong with you! You are actively engaging in self-care when you shake. TRE® (as it’s referred to) or Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises – IS a safe way to bring your body back to alignment and inner harmony, to bring you back to yourSelf. By resisting the urge to “let it go” you are programming your body and physiology to hold onto chronic trauma – you store your charged energy. But by allowing your body to properly maintain a sense of balance and shake – you reduce the risk of future ill-ease. You’re also taking your body back in time, and allowing it to let go of what’s perviously happened to it : physically, emotionally, neurologically, biologically, cognitively … do I need to go on?
Remember – your body is a system of systems, and it’s good practice and management for optimal Health and Wellness. TRE® is one of many modalities to help you achieve overall Health and provides you a healthy sense of Wellness. I always remind people – don’t put all your eggs in one place – it’s good to have one more modality in your toolbelt, to know what your body needs and when. Once you begin your TRE® practice, you will begin to feel when it serves you best. TRE® is a great modality for letting go of attachements and stored charges from old injuries, surgeries, emotional upsets and events. With practice, you’ll learn how to “let go” in the moment, and not store your energy – thus it becomes a preventative measure, and a guarantee for better health.

The basic Eating Psychology concept is that you digest what you consume. It’s about belief systems and ideology, unwanted behaviors and root causes, soul lessons and journeys. It’s about your individuality.
Some people are ready to step up and say nope, I’m not happy with what’s happening, and I want to change that. This is who I speak to.
For those of you who are ready to go within and make some real life-changing adjustments – Let me give you this first concept …
If you believe that the food on your plate, or in that paper bag, is the best food for you right now based on where you are and what you’re doing – then it is.
If you believe that you’re not worthy of even the best – then you’re not.
And so your body behaves accordingly.
Relationship with Food. It’s a concept. It’s a precept. It’s a choice. It’s a lifestyle. It’s fluid. And It’s important to understand.
As you go about your day and things go up and down – imagine how that’s affecting not only your body, but your health as well.
