My body’s physiology is something I am very tuned into

Yes, I have experienced emotional anguish – you know this, I’ve not hidden it. Recently I joined a writing group because I know I have a lot to say – much more to say – to you. Yes, You. It’s not that I neglect you or don’t sit with you, I have been having trouble opening up to you – fully, Authentically. Because for some people who hurt – that’s not so easy to do. And I really want you to understand that I understand you.

The group I joined provides writing prompts, and often poems flow about. I will be the first to admit I was never a big fan of poetry – in fact the very first piece I published on Medium was about not being a fan or a writer. But for some reason it flows out of me rather easily. I appear to need a nudge from a support person saying that it’s safe to do. I joined the group in hopes that I will become my own provider and feel the safety and express my self – to you.

And in fact – as far back as 2016 I was publishing my feelings on Medium.com. And my assignment in group this week is to share – share something new or old, borrowed or beloved. So I am sharing with you something I published in 2016, as I was emerging from my wounded pit.

the lines are well defined

those that can be seen

in front of her eyes

my breath labored and

my heart is fast paced

Alert this is to that pain

Pain Pain go away

and find yourself a new way

it doesn’t have to be so

rapid heart and relaxed breath

now that is something to see

For she has reached a new stage

one she feels comfortable preaching upon

and erase the lines and focus on thine eyes

and feel the present from each new day

Here is the original post

I was learning to feel in my body what I was experiencing in my life. You often hear me talk about physiology – it seems to be my drive. My body’s physiology is something I am very tuned into, always have been – but now for real for real tuned in. Because I did climb out from that pit, and I staked my claim on the ground, intentionally, to imprint my steps for you to find.

Why Shake?

When we find ourselves shaking as a result of being in a highly emotional state – it’s a good thing. Shaking is a natural primal instinct that our body wants to do to calm us down. Examples of charged energies include those moments when you are 1) Excited! 2) angry 3) afraid 4) nervous.

Unfortunately as we’ve grown up and grown older, we’ve learned to shut this mechansim down. “It’s a sign of weakness to show your emotions” we’re told. “Don’t do that, you look like something’s wrong with you.” “Control yourself.” “Pull yourself together” or face judgement.

NO! There’s nothing wrong with you! You are actively engaging in self-care when you shake. TRE® (as it’s referred to) or Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises – IS a safe way to bring your body back to alignment and inner harmony, to bring you back to yourSelf. By resisting the urge to “let it go” you are programming your body and physiology to hold onto chronic trauma – you store your charged energy. But by allowing your body to properly maintain a sense of balance and shake – you reduce the risk of future ill-ease. You’re also taking your body back in time, and allowing it to let go of what’s perviously happened to it : physically, emotionally, neurologically, biologically, cognitively … do I need to go on?

Remember – your body is a system of systems, and it’s good practice and management for optimal Health and Wellness. TRE® is one of many modalities to help you achieve overall Health and provides you a healthy sense of Wellness. I always remind people – don’t put all your eggs in one place – it’s good to have one more modality in your toolbelt, to know what your body needs and when. Once you begin your TRE® practice, you will begin to feel when it serves you best. TRE® is a great modality for letting go of attachements and stored charges from old injuries, surgeries, emotional upsets and events. With practice, you’ll learn how to “let go” in the moment, and not store your energy – thus it becomes a preventative measure, and a guarantee for better health.

The most commonly reported benefits from TRE® :

  • decreased anxiety
  • the release of chronic tension
  • the discharge of emotional and physical trauma
  • improved sleep, mood and digestion
  • decreased aches and pains
  • improved flexibility
  • a decrease in symptoms for sciatica, fibromyalgia,

…. and other chronic conditions.

I am a TRE® Certified Failitator. I offer private sessions, and I also lead group classes (for a list of my class locations and times, visit my events page). TRE®, along with my other services – addresses you as a Whole person.
